The Coalition for Economic Development (CDER) has launched a campaign for supporting Moldovan exporters of agricultural products “Remove Barriers from the Way of Moldovan Exports! Let the National Economy to Breath Freely!”.

Expert of the IDIS Viitorul Institute for Development and Social Initiatives Viorel Chivriga said at news conference in Infotag on Wednesday that the campaign will last until March 2009. Its objective is to consult agricultural producers and exporters, including from the Soroca, the Ungheni, the Cahul, the Nisporeni, the Edinet and the Falesti raions. 

“We want to determine together the problems, which exporters face and to propose to leading persons to amend legislative and normative documents, which regulate export operations”, Chivriga said.

In his opinion, the main impediment to the exports is a very big number of documents, demanded by various instances from economic entities.

“Very often they have to pay unofficially, and the way to their consumers is twice as longer, as it should be. It is a very serious problem for exporters of perishable products”, Chivriga said.

He considers that the world financial crisis has already influenced exporters.

In the course of the campaign topical calendars and leaflets will be distributed between agricultural producers.

The campaign is financed by the Soros-Moldova Foundation and by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).

The Coalition for Economic Development began its activities in 2002. Its members include the IDIS Viitorul Institute for Development and Social Initiatives, the AGROinform National Federation of Farmers and the Microinvest company.
